Fazenda Matão situated at elevations between 790 and 940 m.a.s.l., the farm’s fertile "green thicket" landscape provides ideal conditions for growing speciality coffee.

Since acquiring the estate in the early 2000s, owner Marco Antonio Guardabaxo and manager Marciano de Jesus have modernised the infrastructure while honouring a legacy dating back to the 1960s. Key innovations include a state of the art irrigation system that ensures uniform cherry development while significantly reducing water waste.

Sustainability is central to Matão’s identity. The team promotes biodiversity, prevents soil erosion, and utilises bio fuel from neighbouring Fazenda São Domingos. This commitment extends to the community, where 40 seasonal workers receive living wages and secure conditions.

This lot isn’t your usual Brazilian coffee. Expect a rich, heavy fermentation that shows flavours of Black Cherry, Cacao and Walnut.

Emily ★★★★★

The anaerobic natural process gives this such a dense, syrupy body — it’s unlike anything I’ve brewed lately. Even at 790–940 meters, the sweetness comes through loud and clear. I’ve already ordered another bag before this one’s gone.

William ★★★★★

The Arara cultivar really shines with this anaerobic natural process—it’s smooth and complex, with a dark, fruity depth that lingers nicely. I brewed it as a pour-over and the clarity at 790–940 masl is impressive. Definitely ordering again when the harvest hits.

Joseph ★★★★★

The anaerobic natural process on this Arara cultivar really comes through—the cup is dense and complex without any harshness. Brewed it as a pour-over and the sweetness lingered long after each sip. Definitely grabbing another bag before the January harvest runs out.
