Galo and Alexandra Morales, a husband-and-wife team, have established themselves as prominent coffee producers in Ecuador. Their consistent success in national coffee competitions, including a 1st place in the prestigious Taza Dorada ("Golden Cup") in 2021 and a 2nd place in 2022, along with 3rd place finishes in the Cup of Excellence in both 2022 and 2023, attests to their expertise.

Among the varieties they cultivate are Sydra and Mejorado. Showcased in this lot as a blend. Both varieties have been confirmed by DNA testing to be an Ethiopian landrace. Ethiopia is recognised as the birthplace of coffee and boasts unparalleled genetic diversity, with over 60 distinct varieties. The journey of these Ethiopian varieties to other coffee-growing regions is a subject of ongoing research.

This lot showcases a classic example of elite Ecuadorian coffee, extremely clean, very high citric acidity with complex elderflower and flower blossom florals

Violet ★★★★★

The washed Sydra and Mejorado combo is something else—that double ferment gives it a clean, almost tea-like finish that I wasn’t expecting at 1450 masl. Brewed a cup this morning and the sweetness lingered way longer than most coffees I’ve tried. Definitely ordering again next harvest.

The 48-hour double ferment really comes through in the cup—it's got a clean, complex profile that makes every sip interesting. The washed process keeps it bright and crisp, and at 1450 masl you can tell it's grown with care.

Opened the bag and the smell alone told me this was something special—that 48-hour double ferment gives it a clean, almost tea-like brightness I’ve never tasted in a washed coffee before. Brewed a pour-over at 1450 meters of altitude and it came out sweet and floral with zero bitterness. Definitely
