Based in the mountainous San Ignacio region of Cajamarca, Peru, Cooperativa La Prosperidad de Chirinos is a coffee cooperative founded in 1968. With over 800 members, the organisation cultivates approximately 2,200 hectares of high-altitude coffee.

The cooperative is dedicated to improving the lives of its members and their communities through various programmes. They provide agronomic support and financing, and members can receive training in sensory evaluation and diversifying their income with other crops like avocados. La Prosperidad de Chirinos is also committed to social and environmental responsibility, with dedicated committees for women and youth to promote empowerment and leadership. The cooperative's focus on sustainability is further evidenced by its certifications, which include Fairtrade, USDA Organic, and Rainforest Alliance.

This is the perfect coffee to welcome in the colder months. Rich, sweet and decadent. Think Caramel, Chocolate, Green Apple acidity and a nutty hazelnut finish.

Cracked open the bag and the aroma hit me right away—clean and bright, exactly what I want from a washed coffee. The blend of local varieties from those 817 farmers in San Ignacio makes each cup feel layered but smooth, and it's become my go-to morning brew.

Eva L. ★★★★★

The cooperative of 817 farmers behind this is what drew me in, and the washed process shines through as a clean, bright cup. I've been brewing it as my daily pour-over and it's consistently smooth with a nice, gentle finish.

James A. ★★★★★

The washed process really lets the coffee’s natural sweetness shine—my morning cup came out smooth with zero bitterness. Knowing it’s a field blend from 817 local farmers in San Ignacio makes each sip feel a little more meaningful, honestly. I’ve already ordered a second bag.
