The Typica Nacional cultivar from this Loja farm is incredibly clean and bright, and the washed process makes every cup taste crisp without any harsh bitterness. I brewed it in my pour-over and the flavor really opened up as it cooled. This is the kind of single-origin coffee that makes me slow down

The washed process really lets the Typica Nacional shine—clean, bright cup with none of the muddiness you sometimes get at this altitude. Fabian Macas clearly knows what he's doing in Loja, and it's my new morning go-to.

The altitude being mixed is actually a plus here — it gives the cup a complexity I don't usually find in a single washed lot. Finca Alemana's Typica Nacional is sweet and clean, and I've already reordered another bag before finishing this one.
